ABOUT ME

My research interest span the fields of the built environment which includes Architecture, Urban Design as well as Landscape Architecture. There is also the curiosity in learning how language, culture plays a role in communication about architecture and the environment.

My primary focus and research motivation is on the many ways sustainability can be achieved, between people and people as well as the people-and-the environment.

When not teaching or working, you can find me with my loved ones enjoying time in nature, experimenting with new recipes or hosting a big meal while indulging my itchy feet travel around the globe.

Motto/ Teaching Statement

"To explain, to demonstrate and to inspire"

Prof Ismail Said had said what teachers should do.

I believe teachers must have a powerful faith in the future. My responsibility is to plant and nurture seeds that will grow and shape tomorrow.

A good teacher knows and understands students, how they develop and learn. As students actively construct and transform their own knowledge based on past experiences and prior learning, I must acknowledge that students do not all learn in the same way or at the same rate. I believe it is my responsibility as an educator to plan learning experiences that will both challenge and allow every student to think and grow.

I have hopes for my students to achieve at high levels, and I know most learning (particularly in Architecture)  happens through social interaction; therefore, I hope to be able to structure learning so that students productively collaborate, learn and cooperate with each other the vast majority of class time.
